Esthetician Careers: Find Your Skincare Passion at Work
The Clinical Medical Assisting diploma program at Blue Cliff College teaches students the skills necessary to provide medical and administrative services in healthcare settings.
Here, we’ll talk about what estheticians do, how much they earn, and how Blue Cliff College can help you enter this exciting career.
What Estheticians Do?
Estheticians focus on the health, wellness, and beauty of skin. Upon earning their license, esthetician graduates can provide a wealth of services, including facials, makeup application, exfoliation and in-depth cleansing, and temporary and permanent hair removal. With additional training, they can also apply and remove artificial eyelashes.
Many estheticians are generalists, providing nearly any skincare treatment a client wants. However, some choose to specialize. Some popular esthetics careers are:
Facial Specialist
Facial specialists analyze clients’ skin and provide various types of facials for relaxation, hydration, cleansing, exfoliation, and other purposes. Treatments may include hydrating facials, peels, facial massage, and clinical skincare procedures. Some opt to offer similar treatments to client’s backs as well.
Makeup Artist
Clients may visit makeup artists for special events like weddings or proms, but they may also use such services for family photos, date nights, or a treat. Some makeup artists go into the arts, creating looks for theatre, movies, or advertising.
Medical Esthetician
Medical estheticians can provide all the services a traditional esthetician does, but they focus on helping people with skin conditions or damage. They might work in salons or spas but can often be found at medspas or even in medical clinics. In addition to providing skincare services, some offer makeup applications for clients who want to cover up skin damage with cosmetics.
Hair Removal Technician
Estheticians are trained to remove hair via waxing, threading, or cosmetic preparations.
