If you’re a licensed cosmetologist looking to take your career to the next level, Blue Cliff College’s Cosmetology Instructor Training Diploma Program is for you. This intensive program is designed to prepare students to meet all of the requirements set forth in the appropriate States’ Laws (and our accrediting body) to become a cosmetology instructor in the classroom.
This diploma program offers courses of study in advanced cosmetology with a focus on theory, skill, observation, and practice. Students enrolled in this program will learn how to become engaged in the role of being a professional educator with topics that include curriculum development, student motivation, classroom management, teaching methodology, and student testing and evaluation.
The Cosmetology Instructor Training program is 750 clock hours in length. The normal completion time for the day program is six (6) months and one week (or 25 weeks). For the evening program, completion time is nine (9) months, one week, and two days (or 38 weeks). Upon successful completion of this program and all other graduation requirements, graduates will be awarded a Cosmetology Instructor Training Diploma and earn eligibility to take the State’s required licensing examination.

In addition to being in good health and physically able to perform the duties and techniques that are necessary for employment in the cosmetology instruction field, students must meet the following requirements for admission:
- Possess a current and valid Cosmetology license, issued by the respective State Board of Cosmetology
- In Louisiana, in order to enroll in a Cosmetology Instructor Training Program, the prospective student must have a minimum of 12 months of practical experience (effective August 15, 2010; Act 728, Louisiana Legislature, 2010 Session)
